Analysis of an Art Piece

This work aims to show my ability to analyse artwork for three different kinds of audiences.

The written piece analyses my own art from four years ago in three ways:
1. Providing a museum style caption to briefly explain the piece.
2. "Artist statement translation” - explaining the piece’s meaning to a general public audience in accessible, engaging language.
3. A longer, interpretive, formal analysis - used for more experienced and interested art critics or viewers.

Memorial Piece: The Herero & Nama Genocide

The Herero and Nama genocide, carried out by German colonial forces in present-day Namibia between 1904 and 1908, remains under-discussed in British public life despite its connections to colonial history I engaged with closely during my degree. I wanted to ask: how would I communicate this to a general public audience, with the same sensitivity a memorial programme demands?

That is what this project aims to do
